MIDDAY BUSINESS REPORT: Garmin navigates to record, raises ...Garmin Ltd . sold $432.5 million worth of navigation gear during the second quarter, shattering Wall Street estimates for the Olathe company. Before the market opened this morning, the manufacturer of Global Positioning System devices reported a $120.7 million profit for the three months. Min Kao, Garmin's chief executive, said the sale of automotive products grew by more than 100 percent during the period. "Solid growth in both our automotive/mobile and outdoor/fitness segments has positioned us to exceed our earlier 2006 guidance for these segments," Kao said in a statement. The company raised its sales projections for 2006 to $1.6 billion, and earnings per share forecast to "exceed $3.90." Sobha John, aides in judicial custodyThe Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court remanded the trio arrested in connection with the extortion and manhandling of Sabarimala tanthri Kadararu Mohanaru till August 17. Sobha John (38), the main alleged conspirator in the case who is also a known name in several sex racket cases and Vigil (32) and Anil Kumar (36), Sobha's driver and helper respectively were produced before the court at 11.00 am and after a brief hearing, the magistrate remanded them in judicial custody. They were then taken to the Ernakulam sub-jail. Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate P D Sharanghdharan posted an application for the police custody of the accused for hearing till Friday. Developer of the west coast property, Michael Pemberton says training of the employees will be a priority from early next year. Pemberton says tenders are out for construction of the five star hotel which is expected to cost about six hundred million dollars. But he disclosed that he's already in negotiations with a number of international construction firms, including some who have built large global brands in Dubai.
