Sobha John, aides in judicial custodyThe Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court remanded the trio arrested in connection with the extortion and manhandling of Sabarimala tanthri Kadararu Mohanaru till August 17. Sobha John (38), the main alleged conspirator in the case who is also a known name in several sex racket cases and Vigil (32) and Anil Kumar (36), Sobha's driver and helper respectively were produced before the court at 11.00 am and after a brief hearing, the magistrate remanded them in judicial custody. They were then taken to the Ernakulam sub-jail. Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate P D Sharanghdharan posted an application for the police custody of the accused for hearing till Friday. The decision issued by Dr Khalid Al Khazraji, Labour undersecretary and Acting Director-General of the National Human Resources and Employment Authority (Tanmia), stipulates that companies with over 100 employees will have to emiratise their human resources managerial positions within 18 months. The process must start immediately. If these companies find it difficult to meet this target, they have the option to emiratise human resources positions in two phases. In the first phase, they must emiratise 50 per cent of all human resources positions within 18 months. read more. Companies may get option to keep secretariesDubai: The Ministry of Labour has submitted a memorandum to the Cabinet proposing that companies which do not wish to replace expatriate secretaries with UAE nationals can opt to pay a Dh60,000 yearly fee. The memorandum proposes that companies that wish to keep their expatriates secretaries can pay an equivalent salary amount to the National Human Resources and Employment Authority (Tanmia) to train UAE nationals on their behalf, said Dr Ali Bin Abdullah Al Ka'abi, Minister of Labour, yesterday at a press conference. "Companies that wish to keep their expatriate will have to pay an equivalent salary which the ministry calculated will be an average of Dh5,000 each month to Tanmia to provide UAE nationals with training," said Dr Al Ka'abi. A ministerial decision which came into effect on June 24 requires all secretarial positions to be emiratised. read more.
