Officials' waffling may put brakes on monorailThe future of Jakarta's planned monorail remains fraught with confusion as the project's principle actors, as well as state officials, persistently contradict each other on the question of financial guarantees to secure overseas loans. Vice President Jusuf Kalla said Friday that the central government is willing to provide the guarantees for project developer PT Jakarta Monorail (JM) so it can secure overseas loans. However, this can only be done if the Jakarta administration finalizes its contract with JM. "We are willing to issue the guarantee. But the Jakarta administration should ensure with JM that the minimum requirements for the project have been met," said Kalla without elaborating. SAAG RR Infra bags Rs 3.18 cr order from DegremontMumbai: Construction company SAAG RR Infra Ltd has bagged an order worth Rs 3.18 crore from water treatment company Degremont Ltd for undertaking construction work at a water treatment plant in Karnataka.The order entails carrying out civil construction works for a 100 MLD (million litres per day) water treatment plant, which is on the premises of an existing 270 MLD plant at T K Halli, Karnataka.The company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that it would commence work from August 3 and complete it within four months.Shares of the company were up 7.25 per cent, trading at Rs 33.30 on the BSE. . read more. Companies may get option to keep secretariesDubai: The Ministry of Labour has submitted a memorandum to the Cabinet proposing that companies which do not wish to replace expatriate secretaries with UAE nationals can opt to pay a Dh60,000 yearly fee. The memorandum proposes that companies that wish to keep their expatriates secretaries can pay an equivalent salary amount to the National Human Resources and Employment Authority (Tanmia) to train UAE nationals on their behalf, said Dr Ali Bin Abdullah Al Ka'abi, Minister of Labour, yesterday at a press conference. "Companies that wish to keep their expatriate will have to pay an equivalent salary which the ministry calculated will be an average of Dh5,000 each month to Tanmia to provide UAE nationals with training," said Dr Al Ka'abi.
