He has promises to keep,And Miles To Go Before He Can Sleep

Mahmoud Mohieldin is one of those people you either love or hate there's no gray zone, no safe middle ground. As the brashest and most outspoken of the Nazif Cabinet's Economic Team, where he joins Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohamed Rachid and veteran Minister of Finance and Insurance Youssef Boutros-Ghali, Mohieldin has been working overtime since July 2004 to kick-start the nation's ailing economy. Two years into the job, he is routinely lauded in international circles for both his vision and the bluntness with which he implements it. It's gotten to the point where he seems almost invariably described in the foreign press as "Egypt's tough-minded investment minister." Those same attributes have won him little other than attacks here at home, particularly in the local press, and he knows it: Mohieldin has no illusions about his popularity with the majority of Egyptians who are staunchly opposed to his fast-track privatization program, but he says he's determined to remain focused on "ensuring the Egyptian people their right to a better future." Two years on, the statistics are promising and the programs are working, but the Economic Team still lacks credibility on the street. read more.

Stating that the number of Nepali people being cheated is increasing every day, Sharma advised the government to correspond to the concerned embassies not to issue visit visas to Nepalis and if anybody wants to go to the Arab countries, they should not be allowed to go there without having US dollars 1,000. Though the government has been banning foreign employment in Iraq, many Nepali go there via India with the hope of earning more money. read more.

Companies may get option to keep secretaries

Dubai: The Ministry of Labour has submitted a memorandum to the Cabinet proposing that companies which do not wish to replace expatriate secretaries with UAE nationals can opt to pay a Dh60,000 yearly fee. Wright favours Ganguly's selection

Dubai: Amid speculation of a comeback by Sourav Ganguly to the Indian team, former coach John Wright has said the record of the former captain made a case for his inclusion in the one-day side. The ex-New Zealand skipper, currently in the eye of a storm over his just-published book 'Indian Summers', has also emphasised that he enjoyed a "steady" relationship with the Bengal batsman and there were no differences between them.Asked in an interview, which appeared in 'Gulf News' today, if he felt Ganguly still had a chance to make a comeback to the national team, he said: "I believe he is a great cricketer with more than 15,000 international runs and one who has given Indian cricket a certain direction."It will be great if he can make it." On his relationship with Ganguly, Wright said, "See, we had worked for more than four-and-a-half years and I believe we had a steady relationship."We are in a position where if he (Sourav) comes to Christchurch, he can think of having dinner at my residence while I can think of the same when I am in Kolkata. read more.

Going green: Zero emission across different industries

Concern for environmental damage caused by industries' pollution has reached fever pitch globally. Proactive waste management systems practiced today are still in the "end-of-the-pipe" phase. They need to move beyond recycling to work at minimizing waste generation. This can be done by revisiting the entire production processes of different industries. Worldwide, companies are waking up to the fact that the only sustainable path to the future is the observance of the zero emissions doctrine. As a new paradigm, zero waste has to be embraced with a near religious zeal that goes beyond recycling waste. At the basic level, it would mean that the manufacturer takes back some part of the product for reuse. The significant barriers to zero-waste drive are evident. If there was resistance to setting up effluent treatment plants in the early 1990s, radical shifts in today's production process are bound to face stronger resistance. read more.

Gridskipper Interview: Secret Dubai Diary

Secretdubai of Secret Dubai Diary is a blogger in Dubai who specializes in the intrigue and adventure of the United Arab Emirates, regularly prodding its dark and seedy underbelly. You've been writing Secret Dubai Diary since 2002, which is forever in blog time, let alone Dubai blog time. What got you started? When I first lived overseas, I had an email newsletter that I sent to friends and family, and it turned into a useful record of my travels, which I later put onto a website. This was before blogging had arrived. After I'd been in Dubai for nearly a year, I realised it would be useful to have some sort of record of my time here -- of all the intrigue and adventure in the UAE -- and by then blogging was available, so I thought that would be a useful method. Why a secret (i.e. read more. The industry centered around Internal Medicine Jobs And Dubai is a wonderful industry and learning more about it can be very fruitful.
