Al Ghurair City Knowledge Surprises activities a huge draw with ...The Dubai Land Department, organisers of Knowledge Surprises week, is hosting four wonderful activities to enrich the knowledge bank of the little ones at Al Ghurair Centre. These are fun activities designed to entertain and enrich the kids while also developing their competitive spirit. Sultan Ibrahim, Deputy Head of Organising Committee of Knowledge Surprises said, These activities will benefit the participants by widening their knowledge bank, nurturing their talent and developing their skills. There was no setback to economy: Pondicherry CMPondicherry, Aug 2: Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today said there was no setback to economy or revenue base of Pondicherry following implementation of the uniform sales tax. Replying to views expressed by members during the two-day debate on the motion of thanks to the Lt Governor for his address,which concluded in the House today, Rangasamy said the government was adopting firm job policy and promotion of such activities like proposals to establish a special economic zone would go a long way to end unemployment among the youth.He said of the 7694 industries functioning in the Union Territory as many as 7462 units were in the small scale sector. He said his government would not allow hereafter any industries that would pose threat to environment and sub soil water table. Companies may get option to keep secretariesDubai: The Ministry of Labour has submitted a memorandum to the Cabinet proposing that companies which do not wish to replace expatriate secretaries with UAE nationals can opt to pay a Dh60,000 yearly fee. The memorandum proposes that companies that wish to keep their expatriates secretaries can pay an equivalent salary amount to the National Human Resources and Employment Authority (Tanmia) to train UAE nationals on their behalf, said Dr Ali Bin Abdullah Al Ka'abi, Minister of Labour, yesterday at a press conference. "Companies that wish to keep their expatriate will have to pay an equivalent salary which the ministry calculated will be an average of Dh5,000 each month to Tanmia to provide UAE nationals with training," said Dr Al Ka'abi. A ministerial decision which came into effect on June 24 requires all secretarial positions to be emiratised. read more. Plan to take away power procurement work from Transco: BJPNew Delhi, Aug 2: The BJP today accused the government of planning to strip public body Delhi Transco Ltd off the work of procurement of power for the national capital and transfer it to three private power distribution companies.The party's Delhi state President Harsh Vardhan claimed the proposal would compel the public to pay "four or five times more charges for the consumption of power".Vardhan also claimed that the government had directed the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission to take steps in this regard.He alleged that the government had decided to give this responsibility to the three companies without inviting open tenders. . read more.
