Firms with over 100 staff 'must' emiratise HR posts

Dubai: Companies with more than 100 employees will have to emiratise their national human resources managerial positions, according to an administrative decision issued by the Ministry of Labour yesterday. The decision issued by Dr Khalid Al Khazraji, Labour undersecretary and Acting Director-General of the National Human Resources and Employment Authority (Tanmia), stipulates that companies with over 100 employees will have to emiratise their human resources managerial positions within 18 months. The process must start immediately. If these companies find it difficult to meet this target, they have the option to emiratise human resources positions in two phases. In the first phase, they must emiratise 50 per cent of all human resources positions within 18 months. read more.

India's veg oil requirement to touch 17.7 m tonne by 2010

Demand for national employees increasing

Dubai: Demand for a UAE national workforce is on the rise in the private sector as companies seek to adhere to the Ministry of Labour's emiratisation strategy, said a senior ministry official. The National Human Resources and Employment Authority (Tanmia) has registered a dramatic increase in the number of private companies advertising positions for nationals following the new emiratisation policies, said Dr Khalid Al Khazraji, Labour undersecretary and Acting Director-General of Tanmia. They have doubled in number in the last three months rising from 150 available positions to 300 per week according to Tanmia statistics. "The rise in the demand for a UAE national workforce is to be attributed to the new emiratisation scheme enforced by the ministry, such as stopping the transactions of companies that do not meet their emiratisation quota and the emiratisation of professions," said Al Khazraji. read more.
