Foundations for Palm Jumeirah monorail to be completed soonDubai: The foundations for the path of the Palm Jumeirah's Dh900-million monorail transit system will be completed this month, according to Palm developers Nakheel. The 5.4km long transport system will run between the Gateway Station at the trunk of The Palm Jumeirah and the Atlantis Station on the crescent, calling at two intermediate stations on the way Trump Tower and Village Centre. Arabian Forasol, a UAE/Swiss company, has been awarded two piling packages for the Trump Tower station on the trunk and the Atlantis station on the Palm's crescent. Piling began on the crescent station this week and will start on the Gateway stop in September. The monorail will initially carry up to 2,400 passengers per hour per direction in four separate trains, each made up of three cars. read more. Nepalis stranded in DubaiA Nepali social worker in Dubai, Shyam Sharma, informed Nepalnews that the brokers brought them to Dubai after taking Rs. 150,000 per person giving assurance of good jobs in Iraq. The brokers had assured them to take them to Iraq via Dubai. The brokers fled after keeping Nepali workers in Rasalakhai city of Dubai. Of the stranded workers, five Nepalis, who were languishing in the city, said they did not even have proper arrangements for food. Stating that the number of Nepali people being cheated is increasing every day, Sharma advised the government to correspond to the concerned embassies not to issue visit visas to Nepalis and if anybody wants to go to the Arab countries, they should not be allowed to go there without having US dollars 1,000. Expat secretaries to be allowed new positionsDubai: Expatriate secretaries will be able to continue working for their employers as long as the title and nature of their positions are adjusted, said a senior labour official. Dr Khalid Al Khazraji, Undersecretary of Labour, said that although secretarial positions were to be emiratised, employers were being given the option to keep their former expatriate secretaries as long as they were given alternative positions. "There is a need for flexibility in implementing the rules. The idea is to encourage companies to employ UAE nationals," he said. However, he added that secretarial positions were exclusively reserved for UAE nationals. A ministerial decision which came into effect on June 24 requires all secretarial positions to be emiratised. read more. New hotel soonClose to seven hundred Barbadians will find employment at the new Four Seasons Hotel when it is completed in another three years. Developer of the west coast property, Michael Pemberton says training of the employees will be a priority from early next year. Pemberton says tenders are out for construction of the five star hotel which is expected to cost about six hundred million dollars. But he disclosed that he's already in negotiations with a number of international construction firms, including some who have built large global brands in Dubai. Four Seasons has eighty hotels worldwide and is constructing another twenty.
